Trunk Club Review: Spring Break Style

Next month I’ll be leaving all this cold weather behind for a fabulous Caribbean cruise with seven other women. This trip isn’t just a Spring Break getaway – it’s my best friend’s bachelorette celebration! I’m planning on an entire week of sun, fun, shenanigans, and some absolute debauchery. As much as I need this trip I’m also completely unprepared and that’s where my Trunk Club stylist comes in and saves the day. I sent her a little note indicating that I was going on a girls trip and in need of vacation pieces: cover-ups, dresses, shoes, bathing suits, and accessories. Needless to say, she delivered! This has to be one of my favorite Trunks yet – check out the review below.

Trunk Club:

1. Sign up and take a very brief style survey. You’ll fill out a personal profile and provide your stylist with links to your Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

2. Your stylist will handpick a selection of items for you to review online. After you provide your feedback, and your trunk is finalized, it’s shipped directly to your house.

3. You have 5 days to try on and decide on which items to keep. They provide you with shipping labels and tape strips so when you’re ready to ship the rest back, you schedule a pickup with UPS.

4. Fees: A $25 home try-on fee is charged to your account per trunk and this cash is credited towards any purchase you make.

What to Expect:

Your stylist is YOURS. Like, forever. She (or he) will want to get to know you. My stylist sent me an email with very specific style questions. Additionally, your stylist will expect communication via a telephone call, which I thought was required but others have said they didn’t have to participate in this part of this service (I could have done without). On the other hand, if that’s your thing, you can call your stylist whenever you want.

The clothing inventory is pulled from NORDSTROM, so there’s a vast selection at a wide range of price points. Be sure to point out to your stylist where you’d like to stay, price-wise or you will receive a $300 cashmere sweater.

You will be sent 10-15 pieces ranging from tops, bottoms, shoes, scarves, and accessories. Really, ask for anything. During your preview you can remove items from your trunk and they won’t be sent. Your stylist may add new items for you before sending so some of what you receive is a surprise.

Ask for a trunk whenever you want. This is more of a concierge service than a scheduled delivery. If requesting a trunk for a specific event allow enough time for communication and for your stylist to pull pieces and ship.

A sincere huge THANK YOU to all those that have allowed me to refer them! I hope you are all loving this service, I’d love to hear back from you about what you received and what you thought!

First lets take a look at what I didn’t photograph:

Shop the Pieces:

Ruffle Cold Shoulder Faux Wrap Dress from Soprano: This dress was pretty enough but not entirely in line with what I wanted for this trip. I am also not crazy about cold-shoulder styles so I threw this one to the side.

Robin Piccone Francensca Cover-Up Tunic: Lovely cover-up in a soft ivory with pretty metallic details. I liked the other cover-up options that were sent better.

Hurley Quick Dry Max Waves Bikini: The top was very comfortable and reminded me more of a sports bra. The bottoms provided only minimal coverage and we all know how I feel about covering my bottom…

Coin Embellished Straw Fedora: I’m not opposed to a white fedora – I just didn’t understand the coin embellishments. They were a little too tacky for me. I did like the price of this hat though!

This cover-up was so comfortable and the sleeve detail was super cool and pretty. I was a little worried that the black material would be too hot for the Caribbean – especially with the long sleeves. If not for the higher price tag I probably would have kept this one. The clutch on the other hand was a complete winner! The gorgeous detailing is all done in tiny beads. The clutch also has tassel edging and pom accents and could not be any cuter or more appropriate for a Caribbean get-a-way.

I was really hoping for a bathing suit cover-up like this! I love comfortable cover-ups that can be worn all day and how cute are the tassels on this option? The colors were pretty too. I knew this was going to be a keeper before I even tried it on. I can throw my sunscreen, phone, and glasses in this adorable clutch it and take it right to the pool.

My favorite piece of the entire trunk has to be this dress. I love the pattern and details. The dress itself is a light blue though you may not be able to see that in the photos. I have the dress clipped back so that the fit is decent for photos but it was actually a size too large. I asked my stylist if it was available in a size smaller and unfortunately it wasn’t. Because this was a little on the pricey side and the fit wasn’t great on me I decided to send it back and that hurt deep down in my soul. The dress looked great paired with the Vince Camuto sandals and straw bag that were also sent. I loved the shoes but own similar so I sent those back. The bag was large and would fit a ton of stuff. Unfortunately, it was a little bigger than what I wanted for this trip (and what will fit in my suitcase) so that also went back.

I was excited for this dress but it ended up looking frumpy and unflattering on me. The dress was oversized but overall did nothing for my frame. And as was glaringly obvious, the dress also washed me out a bit. The clutch is adorable but I wasn’t sure how much use I’d get out of it and opted not to buy.

If there ever was a perfect bachelorette dress it has got to be this one. It’s bright, pretty, and super fun. I can’t wait to wear this on my trip as I am celebrating and dancing the night away with my best friends. I thought it paired with the Steve Madden clutch beautifully too!
