Trunk Club Review: Spring 2017

Trunk Club Review Spring 2017 ||

Between working 50-60 hours a week and studying for my Physician Assistant re-certification exam I’ve had very little extra time for myself. When I do have some downtime I definitely don’t want to be spending it in a mall or online shopping. And that’s why this service is so excellent. I only had to send a quick message to my stylist that I wanted a spring trunk and viola, clothes at my doorstep.  I was super happy with this trunk and felt like my stylist nailed it with pieces that were certainly representative of my personal style. And the price points were right on! Just wait until you see!

Trunk Club:

1. Sign up and take a very brief style survey. You’ll fill out a personal profile and provide your stylist with links to your Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

2. Your stylist will handpick a selection of items for you to review online. After you provide your feedback, and your trunk is finalized, it’s shipped directly to your house.

3. You have 5 days to try on and decide on which items to keep. They provide you with shipping labels and tape strips so when you’re ready to ship the rest back, you schedule a pickup with UPS.

4. Fees: A $25 home try-on fee is charged to your account per trunk and this cash is credited towards any purchase you make.

What to Expect:

Your stylist is YOURS. Like, forever. She (or he) will want to get to know you. My stylist sent me an email with very specific style questions. Additionally, your stylist will expect communication via a telephone call, which I thought was required but others have said they didn’t have to participate in this part of this service (I could have done without). On the other hand, if that’s your thing, you can call your stylist whenever you want.

The clothing inventory is pulled from NORDSTROM, so there’s a vast selection at a wide range of price points. Be sure to point out to your stylist where you’d like to stay, price-wise or you will receive a $300 cashmere sweater.

You will be sent 10-15 pieces ranging from tops, bottoms, shoes, scarves, and accessories. Really, ask for anything. During your preview you can remove items from your trunk and they won’t be sent. Your stylist may add new items for you before sending so some of what you receive is a surprise.

Ask for a trunk whenever you want. This is more of a concierge service than a scheduled delivery. If requesting a trunk for a specific event allow enough time for communication and for your stylist to pull pieces and ship.

A sincere huge THANK YOU to all those that have allowed me to refer them! I hope you are all loving this service, I’d love to hear back from you about what you received and what you thought!

First, here’s what I didn’t photograph:

trunkclubspring20172J. Crew Stripe Wool Sweater | BB Dakota Romper | Steve Madden Mule

J. Crew Stripe Wool V-Neck Sweater: It was obvious this was a high quality and luxurious sweater. And I definitely could use a basic like this – but it was too short.

BB Dakota Stripe Sash Tie Romper: Love the color and pattern of this pretty romper. It was a little too short (both shorts and in the torso).

Steve Madden Kera Flat Loafer Mule: I really did not like these. I felt the style and pattern both aged me quite a bit and they definitely made me wonder what my stylist was thinking.

Wildfox Rose Print Baggy Beach Jumper Pullover: Returned

This was a sweet and super soft sweater. It was much darker in person than it appears online, which was the only thing I was disappointed about. I did think it was a little more expensive than it was worth so I passed even though I loved it.

Pleione Tie Back Wrap Blouse: Returned

I’m a sucker for a subtle bell sleeve so I was excited to try this pretty blouse. It was lovely from the front. And then – there was this big huge bow on the back that just looked ill-fitted and awkward on me.

Gibson Cowl Neck High/Low Fleece Tunic: Kept

Oh my gosh, this is the softest tunic ever. I loved everything about it – especially that it could be worn off the shoulder or as a cowl neck. It was definitely a keeper.

Topshop Eyelet Layer Sleeve Tee T-Shirt: Returned

Typically I’m a sucker for both eyelet and bell sleeves. But when the two are combined – I don’t know, it felt a bit like I should have had a set of maracas. To me the sleeves had passed cute and were edging on the flamboyant side.

Caslon Lace-Up Sleeve Sweatshirt: Returned

I was conflicted about this one. I liked it but was worried about how short it was. We all know I like my sweatshirts a bit oversized. Ultimately that is why I sent it back. I did like the lace-up detail on the sleeves.

Halogen Smocked Off the Shoulder Top: Kept

Even though this top is more appropriate for later summer/fall I couldn’t help but keep it – I loved it. I am thinking of pairing it with my Trouve leather jacket from my last Trunk.

ASTR Flutter Sleeve Top: Returned

Isn’t this top adorable? I loved the pattern and the neckline. I wasn’t in love with the cutouts. I was torn about whether or not I should keep it. Ultimately I based my decision on whether or not I could wear it comfortably with a bra (that always seems to be my go-to) and the answer was no.

ASTR Shirred Peplum Top: Kept

Who wouldn’t have kept this one? From the delicate ruffle sleeves to the color this was SO me! I will be wearing this one all summer!

Paige Denim Fauna Ruffle Blouse: Returned

Adorable blouse right? This one is another “so me” option. It was a little big but if I didn’t already own a similar blouse I probably would have kept it because it seems so versatile and comfy.
