Trunk Club for Women: Girls Trip

Trunk Club for Women: Spring 2016 Review

As you may recall (from my non-stop talk about it), I’m going on a little getaway to Florida soon and I thought this would be a great excuse to ask my stylist to send a Trunk my way ( I know, I know, as if I really ever need an excuse). She sent a few clothing items, some great shoes, and other accessories that I’ll describe to you in just a sec. But first, let me tell you all about Trunk Club, if you’re new here:

Trunk Club:

1. Sign up and take a very brief style survey. You’ll fill out a personal profile and provide your stylist with links to your Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, etc.

2. Your stylist will handpick a selection of items for you to review online. After you provide your feedback, and your trunk is finalized, it’s shipped directly to your house.

3. You have 5 days to try on and decide on which items to keep. They provide you with shipping labels and tape strips so when you’re ready to ship the rest back, you schedule a pickup with UPS.

4. Fees: A $25 home try-on fee is charged to your account per trunk and this cash is credited towards any purchase you make.

What to Expect:

Your stylist is YOURS. Like, forever. She (or he) will want to get to know you. My stylist sent me an email with very specific style questions. Additionally, your stylist will expect communication via a telephone call, which I thought was required but others have said they didn’t have to participate in this part of this service (I could have done without). On the other hand, if that’s your thing, you can call your stylist whenever you want.

The clothing inventory is pulled from NORDSTROM, so there’s a vast selection at a wide range of price points. Be sure to point out to your stylist where you’d like to stay, price-wise or you will receive a $300 cashmere sweater.

You will be sent 10-15 pieces ranging from tops, bottoms, shoes, scarves, and accessories. Really, ask for anything. During your preview you can remove items from your trunk and they won’t be sent. Your stylist may add new items for you before sending so some of what you receive is a surprise.

Ask for a trunk whenever you want. This is more of a concierge service than a scheduled delivery. If requesting a trunk for a specific event allow enough time for communication and for your stylist to pull pieces and ship.

A sincere huge THANK YOU to all those that have allowed me to refer them! I hope you are all loving this service, I’d love to hear back from you about what you received and what you thought!

This shipment was a bit different than what I am used to receiving so far from my stylist because it included a bunch of accessories and shoes. When I previewed the Trunk I was SO excited to try on the flare jeans and the wedge sandals, I desperately wanted both. I was also kind of loving the “Eat Pray Rose” Sweatshirt”. First let me show you the stuff I didn’t capture in photographs:

This tote was just not my style. It was big and shiny and expensive. I’m not sure that I had a need for it but even so, I didn’t like the bow detail. I know most people would enjoy that, I just didn’t.

These sunglasses were pretty cool, I liked them a lot. I especially liked the carrying case they came in. I adore kate spade but I don’t adore the color purple. If I’m going to invest in a pair of expensive shades, they are going to be in a color I LOVE.

Ugh. This hat was just awful. So, I needed a straw hat (I did get a great one, from target, for half the price) and you guys know I love tassels but the combo of black and the mix of odd colors on this one was bad. Plus, it is made to look almost like a cowboy hat, so it looked pretty bad on, according to me…

I’ll be honest, I was on the fence about these shoes. I didn’t really like the colors of the tassels so ultimately I think that’s why I returned them (besides I thought the price was a little high for sandals). They seemed comfy on.

I had my heart set on these babies. I wanted them so bad, they are so perfect for summer and vacation. But I have fat ankles and when I put these on, these cut into me and my ankles seemed to roll over the upper strap. I was so sad. It was so gross.

I had my heart set on these babies from the second I saw them in my trunk! You can probably see why they didn’t work out though…. they were too big and too long. I was reluctant to try flares the first time my stylist wanted to send me a pair but since she introduced the idea they have seriously grown on me. This pair was super slimming. For your own reference, they don’t say so but they are also very high-waisted. If you’re wondering, the off-the-shoulder top is from a prior trunk, and you can get it here.

“Eat Pray Rose” Sweatshirt from Bow and Drape

This should say “Eat Swear Moscato” because let’s get real here, that’s the kind of level I’m on. But hey, I’m perfectly happy to pretend. This sweatshirt is soooo comfy and I’m a huge sucker for sequins and beads. Must be 15+ years of dance influencing me. I kept this one, it’s really soft and perfect for a girls trip.

Cold Shoulder A-Line Mesh Lace Dress from Ali and Jay

Such a lovely dress this is! And very pretty. I really wasn’t a huge fan of the cold shoulder cutouts but otherwise, the dress is darling. I just didn’t see how this would fit into my life right now.

Someone tell me how I’m supposed to wear this top? I really love the pattern and even love the wrap look but I just can’t figure out how I’m supposed to be wearing it. Obviously, a normal bra isn’t an option. I’m probably going to send it back if I can’t come up with fun ways to wear this that are appropriate.

High/Low Hem Jersey Tank Dress from Felicity and Coco

How often do you see me in this color? Like, never, so I was excited to try this dress. The thing is, jersey is really uncomfortable to wear. It shows every little imperfection. It also has annoying elastic around the middle which is a problem on vacation because I like to eat…

So this trunk was a bit of a fail in terms of getting me ready for my trip. There were definitely some things I was excited about that didn’t work out due to fit issues, others were just way off my style. I’ll continue to try to be very specific with my stylist about what I want and don’t want. The great thing about this service is that it’s fee free and that’s why I keep trying!

  1. Lol. Eat Swear Moscato. Too funny. If they had one that was ear swear vodka, I’d be all over it! I actually really like that crossback tank on you and it seems like it will work well for a girl’s trip to the sunshine state! It’s a pretty color and J like the subtle print. Maybe paired with a pair of skinny jeans or cropped pants it could work?

  2. Love the sweatshirt!!! So glad you posted the bit about prices! I love stitch fix, have thought about trying TrunkClub, but then saw some other reviews with much more expensive trunks and was scared off. Yours seems much more like what I would want as far as pricing! Glad to see they do provide a range!
