Stitch Fix Review #13: May 2016
Happy May friends, it’s Stitch Fix time again! In the note to my stylist I asked for pieces that would work for a little trip to Florida. I didn’t really pin anything for her to go off of, which seems to be the case lately. I’ve been in the mood to be surprised. And so far, it’s all been pleasant – this was another lovely fix with several great pieces. We’ll talk about what Rachel sent in just a sec, first let me tell you about Stitch Fix:
What is it:
Stitch Fix is a monthly (or semi-regularly, it’s up to you) personal stylist service. The most popular option is a monthly home delivery of 5 items, clothing and accessories, to your door, picked by your stylist. The monthly stylist fee is $20 (yep, that’s it!) and if you choose to keep any of the items, that $20 goes toward your purchase. Once your Fix arrives, you get 3 business days to decide which items to keep, and which, if any, you want to send back. If you need to send items back, they provide you with a prepaid package that can be placed in your mailbox so you literally have to do nothing. To purchase the clothing/accessories you want to keep, you log into your online account, and select the ones you’re keeping and checkout. That’s it!
If you are someone who hates shopping, but doesn’t mind someone shopping for you, this is perfect. If you are someone who needs to be shopped for – then you need this service. If you’re intrigued and you want to step out of your comfort zone and let someone else give you suggestions based on information you’ve given them about what you like, this is what this service is all about!
How to sign up:
Your Stitch Fix stylists will need to get to know you, so you begin by creating an account and taking a personal style quiz and filling out your style profile. This is kind of fun and gives you quite a bit of say in what shows up at your door each month. **You will select your desired price ranges during this part as well. All of your answers and preferences can be changed at any time.
You should also start a Pinterest Stitch Fix board for your stylists to see what your personal style is all about. Be specific and detailed with what you post on there, that will help guide them. There’s a spot in your style profile to paste the link to your Pinterest board.
You can leave the stylists additional messages if you are looking for something specific to arrive in your box – for example, if you have a wedding to go to, or will be going on vacation, job interviews, etc. Your stylists will send you options for these events. You can request to NOT receive specific items in your boxes (I just requested to no longer receive jewelry). I asked not to receive pleather or real fur…
You’ll select when you’d like your box delivered each month (or how often), and it’ll arrive on your doorstep You’ll get an email a week or two before, asking if you have any last minute requests for your stylist, and another email when your box has shipped. Once it arrives, you’ll have 3 business days to decide on which items you’ll keep or send back.

Collective Concepts Mayfair Tie Waist Top: kept
See this pretty little blouse Rachel sent me? I love it. It’s slightly off-white and sheer, I’ll have to wear a cami under it (as I am in the photos). In the front there’s the tassel ties and blue stripes down each side. The sleeves also have a pretty lacy/crochet design. And then on the back, there are little buttons the entire way down. It’s adorable. I was refraining from buying any work pieces but I think this one goes both ways, work and casual.
Loveappella Lolah Stripe Halter Knit Top: returned
I liked the length of this top, it provided excellent coverage both in the back and front. I also liked the material, it was thick yet stretchy, which was flattering. The shoulder/halter and back detail was adorable as well. I didn’t like the zig-zaggy striped pattern, but I do like navy and white. I was torn on this one but ended up sending it back.
Loveappella Leece Embroidery Knit Top: returned
This one just wasn’t for me. I didn’t mind he colors – I kind of like the combo of orangey/coral and teal. The jersey material is so uncomfortable (just my opinion) because it tends to highlight parts I don’t want seen. Also, it accentuates the rear, as you can see in the photos, and that’s just not an area of mine that ever will need accentuated.
Skies are Blue Maeve Crepe Dress: returned
As far as fit goes, this is the perfect dress. It really felt great on, and was comfortable, no fuss. The back has a little cutout detail that is cute too and still accommodates a bra, I wish I would have taken a photo, sorry! The pattern is a bit much for me but I still do think it’s pretty. It’s too structured and professional for this laid back trip though. I would possibly wear this to work or a bridal shower, but I don’t need anything for those purposes at the moment so I sent it back.
Karen Kane Blair Printed Aline Skirt: returned
This skirt is great! It was way too big for me, I have it clothes-pinned back in these photos to make it look better. I love the pattern, which is actually quite a bit different than what I’m usually open to but I find that I like it a lot. The material is very thick and forgiving, I’m thinking it would have looked a lot better if it had fit. It’s probably a good thing it didn’t, because this one is a bit pricey and I would’ve wanted it for this trip!
I know you guys probably wonder why I always think my fixes are so great yet I only choose to keep 1 or 2 pieces and it’s because it’s not about scoring a 5/5 for me. Not everything always fits the best or ends up looking great on me, but now that Rachel has been styling me for more than 6 months I can tell that she does think about sending me things that’ll look great and that I’ll be open to trying. Ultimately, that’s what this service is about. That’s it for this month! Next month I’m hoping for some cute summer pieces, stay tuned!
