If you’re wondering what you need in your wardrobe to get you through this winter, no worries, I have you covered! This list perfectly compliments my fall essentials list and I think it rounds out a really nice cohesive cold weather wardrobe. Lets get started!
1. Structured Parka
I’m obsessed with this specific parka. I own it in dusty ginger, I’ve seriously considered buying the Grey, and I love the Navy version as well. It’s the perfect structured parka for work and holiday wear but there are many other fantastic styles out this season.
2. Wool Parka
Long heavy parkas remain an essential and if you don’t own one yet, I highly recommend one lined with sherpa and a faux fur-lined hood (shout out to all my girls also living in frigid states!). How great is this wool one lined with buffalo plaid?
3. Buffalo Plaid
Speaking of buffalo plaid! This may not actually be an essential, I’m just in love. I purchased mine last year from the Levi Outlet for 80% off (score) and here’s a similar one from Woolrich with A&F. You need some buffalo plaid in your life this winter, why not incorporate it into your winter coat?
4. Quilted Vest
Puffer vests are just warm, simple, and gorgeous. If you haven’t invested, now is the time!
5. Patterned Vest
The herringbone pattern of this vest is so versatile and works perfectly with all your other winter staples. It looks great with stripes, plaid, and chunky sweaters. I have this vest in grey and loved it so much I was dying to also have it in black and was just able to snag it on a HUGE black Friday sale (50% off PLUS I had a 15% off coupon). Best deal ever.
6. Over-sized Turtleneck
Turtlenecks are back! I’m happy. From thin tunics to thick cable-knit’s feel free to wear them all season long.
7. Fair Isle Sweater
Cute patterns and warm and cozy for the cold season ahead. These look great with puffer vests too!
8. Cable-knit Sweater
These never go out of style. Try layering them this year with a button-down or sheer top underneath.
9. Faux Fur Vest
Oh my gosh. These vests. It took me a little while to “warm” up to this trend, but I must admit, the colder it gets, the more I want one in my closet. Think of an emerald green sweater, black skinnies, and suede booties. Yep, that’s why this is on my list.
This isn’t just pretty and fashionable, it works as an extra layer of warmth. I love this check version.
11. Sweater Dress
Thick and cozy, this is a staple for work in the winter months. my go-to outfit is styling this paired with leggings and boots.
12. Plaid Skirts
You guys. If ever there were going to be a time when it was appropriate for you to put a plaid skirt back on, it’s now. With leggings or not. Booties, loafers, or flats, these skirts are adorable and so easy to pair with a simple long-sleeved top.
13. Boot Socks
Not only are these adorable but you don’t have to worry about your jeans or leggings bunching up. They keep my feet and legs extra warm and I hate wearing my boots without them!
14. Over the Knee Boots
Oh my gosh am I loving these! Over the knee boots make the legs look so slim and sexy. They also add a little wow to a super casual outfit.
15. Snow Boots
I don’t know who gets to decide when something comes back in style but I’m glad they did. I grew up wearing these boots so in addition to being amazingly practical, they are super nostalgic for me. I love them. I purchased a pair from Sorel for myself because we have super harsh winters (according to me) and I have a long, cold, snowy distance to walk from my car to the hospital, but these seem to be the most “trendy” at the moment.
16. White Jeans
Whoever said no white after labor day was wrong. White is in. I love it paired with neutrals and boots.
It seems like corduroy is always making a comeback. It’s a flattering style, especially in skinny jeans.
18. Destroyed Black Denim
The perfect compliment to plaid, black denim. It’s also slimming. Anyway, you need.
Practical and cute. And the pom pom on top? I really needn’t say more.
20. Blanket Scarves
If you haven’t jumped on this bandwagon, it’s time. It’s an accessory and a blanket, I really shouldn’t have to convince you. Support small business while you are at it and purchase through Etsy (click the link above), there is so much variety.
That’s it! What do you have? What would you add?
Thanks for stopping by!
