Fall Window Boxes

This summer I put up a few window boxes, which you can read about here if you are also interested in adding these to the exterior of your home. Now that it is Fall, I wanted to remove the dying plants and get the boxes ready for winter. As I was emptying them out, I was reminded of something I’d seen on Pinterest (I knowwwww, right) where someone had incorporated Holiday decorations into their boxes at Christmastime.

To keep this low cost (I already had most the of the fall accents from last year) I kept the dirt in the boxes so I didn’t need to buy any foam for height. I also used some wire I had, cut into 6″ pieces, and stuck one end into each of the pumpkins and the other into the dirt for more stability. My boxes did warp a little this summer because my plants and vines got so HUGE and overgrown, but I was able to hide most of that with decoration. Here’s how my boxes turned out:
