At this point I remain entirely against fall, unless we’re talking mums or clothes. Summer may be my favorite season, but I was made for fall clothing! I’ve had my eye out for a few fall pieces, since…. well, last fall. It’s no secret that I prefer to be a fashion follower rather than a trendsetter and though there were a few things I wanted last year, I held off knowing if I was still really in love I’d commit and purchase the pieces this year. I’ve waited all year so you can imagine I wasted no time pulling the trigger and added these fall “must haves” to my closet.
I’m not yet ready to commit to going shopping for jeans or pants (unless they show up in my stitch fix 😉 ), as that would mean I’m officially ready to give up summer, so my fall shopping has been directed elsewhere. Leggings and riding boots will be a huge staple again this year so I’m glad I invested and excited to get another fabulous year of use out of those. I added to my closet a vest from J. Crew in a printed herringbone pattern that I’ve been in love with since last fall and much needed snow boots. Check out the other items I added to my closet below!
1. Printed Quilted Puffer Vest in Steely Grey
This vest was originally released from J. Crew a few years ago in a herringbone pattern – now it’s available from the factory in a printed pattern and more of a “puffer” vest. Though I wish it was more of a wool-y fabric, I was pretty excited to get this at cheaper price and on sale; glad I waited. I will be wearing this all fall/winter!
2. Winter Fancy Lace II Warm Waterproof Boot in Elk and Grizzly Bear
I needed new snow boots last year but didn’t buy early enough. By the time I started my shopping, all of my favorite styles were sold out. I suffered through last winter with cold wet feet, but not this winter! If you’re in the market, buy now! They’ll be gone by the time snow starts hitting the ground and you need them. These are perfect because they are super cute (um, a heel!?) but entirely functional and waterproof).
3. Plaid Pocket Shirt in Navy and Green Plaid
Flannel. Enough said, right? I love these colors together. I’ve already worn this, twice. I’ll wear it all fall/winter. It goes with everything. Abercrombie has several beautiful flannels out right now.
4. Fringe Crystal Necklace
Love the dirty color of the metal, and the “fringe” detail (fringe is in this fall!). The chain is long and will compliment an oversized shirt with leggings and boots.
5. Drapey Wrap Front Shirt in White
I’m willing to transition to long-sleeves and jeans if this shirt is included! I love the wrap front style. And the best part? The back of the the shirt is low, so it can be comfortably worn with leggings.
6. Chilly Nights Scarf in Tan and Green
Another item that’s been on my wishlist since last year: a beautiful green/tan/red plaid scarf. I couldn’t wait to scoop this up. Even if I’m hoping to not have to wear it for a few months….
7. Sylvia Patent Wedges in Bronzed Clay
We’re entering that awkward time when it’s too warm to wear boots but a little chilly for flats. That’s where these babies come in. For me anyway. I already own a pair just like these, but they are old and worn (and my dog may have left some baby teeth marks in them last fall….). It was time for an updated pair. These are only 3in high, which makes them easy get around the hospital in and they are the most beautiful color for fall. If your dress code is “business casual”, you need these.
8. Ivory Button Boot Cuffs
Last year the only place I could find riding boot cuffs or socks was on etsy. I think we’ll be seeing more of thse available this fall. I scooped these up as soon as I saw them! Adorable.
I also found this AMAZING site for boot cuffs: Boot Cuffs and Socks, shop away!
